School Uniform

Phoenix Infant and Nursery School
School Uniform Policy - see below for full policy with full details.
At Phoenix we expect all children in full-time education to come to school wearing the appropriate school colours in the form of our school uniform. Wearing a school uniform as a collective can have a key role in:
-    Promoting the ethos of our school
-    Providing a sense of belonging and identity
-    Setting an appropriate tone for education
We recognise that by creating a common identity amongst all of our pupils, regardless of background, a school uniform can act as a social leveller. It can reduce bullying and peer pressure to wear the latest fashions or other expensive clothes. If, however, school uniform is too expensive it can place an unreasonable burden on families. Furthermore, a distinction can be made between those who can afford it and those who cannot, which can reduce the benefits of a uniform and has the potential for a negative impact.
Here at Phoenix, we believe that parents should not have to worry about the cost of a school uniform. No school uniform should be so expensive as to leave pupils or their families feeling unable to apply to, or attend, a school of their choice. We welcome families to have the option of choosing:
-    To dress their child in branded school uniform (from a school supplier)
-    Or non-branded school uniform (supermarket / high street chain)
-    Or to dress their child in second hand uniform. (we have a large selection in school at £1 per item)
We encourage all families to choose the most cost-effective option that they can afford. Please ensure that all school uniform is named. School will not challenge families so long as their child comes to school wearing the appropriate school colours as described below:
Logo free school uniform can be purchased by families if they wish.
