PE AND SPORTS GRANT

At Phoenix Infant and Nursery School, we recognise the importance of physical activity in supporting our pupils' physical health, emotional well-being, and social development. The PE and Sport Premium funding helps us provide high-quality physical education and activity opportunities tailored to the needs of our young children. Our aim is to build the foundations of a healthy, active lifestyle while fostering confidence and teamwork.

Purpose of the PE and Sport Premium

The Sports Premium is a funding given to schools. This initiative provides schools with direct financial resources aimed at enhancing the quality of sports and PE for all pupils. Schools have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Here is the link for the Department of Education's Primary School's sports funding page.

The PE and Sport Premium funding enables us to:

  • Ensure all pupils are physically active every day, meeting the Chief Medical Officer’s recommended 60 minutes of daily activity.
  • Develop staff expertise to deliver fun, inclusive, and engaging PE lessons.
  • Introduce children to a variety of physical activities, encouraging lifelong enthusiasm for movement and fitness.
  • Enhance outdoor and indoor spaces to support active play and learning throughout the school day.
  • Build key movement skills like balance, coordination, and agility, which are vital in early childhood.
  • Continue offering swimming lessons for Year 2 pupils, laying the groundwork for swimming instruction in later years.
