The teaching of Phonics Progression overview
Spring
Year 2 class 6 reading and enjoying some poems this week.
We all had a great time on World Book day! Everyone either dressed up as their favourite book character or wore their comfy clothes. We held a book picnic and some year 6 children joined us and helped read some of the stories the children brought in to share. We finished the day with a visit from the librarians who read us a range of poems and stories and told us how we could joint he library.
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, Year 2 have been looking at the book Chalk by Bill Thomson. We used chalks to create our own pictures and imagined what would happen if they came alive just like in the story! We also wrote some descriptive sentences to match the illustrations in the book.
Happy World Book Day from Class 3!
World Book Day Drama Workshop. Class 3 took part in a drama workshop where we travelled the Wild West looking for the horse with the golden mane. We had so much fun using our imaginations being cowboys and cowgirls!
Year 2 class 6 completing a reading comprehension based on some rainforest animals that are in our class book Grandad’s Island
Autumn
In the Autumn term Class 4 read books by the Author Colin McNaughton. We enjoyed reading different books and writing about our favourite book. We also made up our own aliens and described them.
Colin McNaughton
Class 6 have been enjoying the story book One World for our shared reading. We worked with a partner to create freeze frames from parts of the story for the rest of the class to guess.
